Some things I'm thankful for | Gratitude List.

Monday, 16 March 2020

beautiful flowers from bloom and wild gifted from friend which I'm feeling grateful for.

Hello, Hi. Long time no speak. I found myself having a few weeks without blogging as I have been unwell. Nothing major, but still more health issues than I expected to be faced with, which lead to an overnight hospital stay (thank god for the NHS). My immune system just seemed to be down, so my body was fighting a kidney infection, my eczema flared up to the extreme which was impacting me both mentally and physically, I found myself with digestion problems in pain, insomnia and to top it all off, an ear infection. It's been a challenging few weeks, to say the least. But I am feeling much better now. In fact, I'm feeling more energetic than I have in months, as we discovered I've also been anaemic for a while. I've started on prescribed iron tablets, and finally, remember that feeling exhausted is not normal.

I feel like me for the first time in a long time, and I'm so grateful to have that back. Although, thankfully nothing major has been wrong with me, I found myself, whilst binging Netflix in the name of recovery feeling very grateful. Grateful for, well, all sorts of things. So today I thought I'd share a gratitude list with you, as a little gratitude goes a long way.

The little (and big) things from the past few weeks which I'm thankful for:

- My mum and stepdad: living with me the past few months couldn't have been easy for them, yet they offered me support time and time again when I found my skin on my face so sensitive that looking in the mirror would reduce me to tears, and they made sure got treated for the kidney infection which was keeping me up all night.
- My sister who was checking in on me daily. I think the picture of my face I sent her when in hospital shocked her into needed regular updates on how I was feeling, and how my skin was looking. Something as simple as a text can go a long way when times are tough.
- My boyfriend who besides being as caring as ever, sent me popcorn to cheer me up (it's this one, and it's incredible).
- A friend who sent me flowers. Receiving a box from Bloom & Wild through my letterbox made my day. It's just so thoughtful, and the flowers are so beautiful.
- My auntie who bought me a jumpsuit when I needed cheering up. I felt truly spoilt.
- My pals for made the effort to check in with me. Like I said, a text means a lot
- The dermatologist who helped me get my skin under control. For the first time in months I can look in the mirror and not be upset by my reflection, itchyness isn't keeping me awake, and existing in my own skin no longer feels like a burden.
- A tidy bedroom. The process of tidying my bedroom, because nothing makes me feel like I've got my life under control quite like making the space around me feel lovely.
- A new plant - need I say more?!
- Feeling healthy enough to go running. The first one did exhaust me so much that I ended up napping the entire day afterwards, but I've been for a few since and other than feeling a little unfit, they went well.
- Yoga: I talk more about my new found love for yoga in this post.
- It takes three network - this podcast network just makes me feel less lonely. I feel like I'm with friends when I listen to it, friends who love the same TV shows as me. I talk more about it here.
- My sleep pattern returning to normal after months of insomnia
- My eyebrows. A bizarre one, I know, but my skin issues left me with 0 eyebrows (and chunks of hair missing on from my scalp). I'll tell you, not having brows really affects your appearance (and a chunk of time to your makeup routine) seeing those hairs grow back is making me so happy (I've been using this to speed up the growth process)
- Being able to go places and not feel self-conscious. My skin was doing things, which alongside being painful, also didn't look nice. A lot of the time wearing makeup was a no go, and for months I felt so anxious to go anywhere because of how it looked. This week, after the magic the dermatologist worked I was able to leave the house, makeup-free without wondering if anyone was looking at my skin.
- The NHS: If I wasn't lucky enough to have the NHS here in the UK, my overnight hospital stay alone would have been expensive enough, let alone the follow-up dermatology appointment and all the prescribed lotions potions and tablets which have got me on the road to recovery.

What are you grateful for?

New Year, New Start - ChloeHarriets Blog Rebrand.

Because we all know I love a cliché, I decided New Years would be a perfect time to relaunch my blog. I love New Years, to me, a brand new year brings hope and excitement. I've always been obsessed with this idea, I previously rattled on about it in this post (woah, this is an old one, don't judge) and this post. Sure, I get that more often New Year resolutions are probably forgotten by the time February rolls around, and often some of mine don't get achieved (still so far off those 1000 youtube subscribers I was aiming for last year, but it's always better to try). Plus. I'm all for any excuse to celebrate, reflect and hopefully better myself. But more of New Year's goals in Monday's post (9.30am,  be there or be square)

Towards the second half of 2019, something felt a bit stale with my blog, I had a few blogging breaks to try to spark inspiration, but they didn't really achieve much other than a lack of content. That's when I decided I wanted to change things up. Make this platform a place which leaves me, and others feeling inspired. I no longer want to feel invisible on the internet, I want to make myself seen. With all of this in mind, I decided to freshen things up. Get a new logo (it's coming, I promise), work on SEO so my blog actually gets seen, and make this space into what I want it to be, rather than what it has been for the past five years. I'm sure some bits will stay the same because not everything about my corner of the internet completely sucks, but mainly I want to make things better. I want 2020 to be the year I find my place in the blogging world, create content which resonates with the readers. I want this to be the year I see the numbers improve, and the year I begin to actually finally think of myself as a serious blogger, you know, one who works with brands and is proud of their content.

Chloeharriets.com should be somewhere which brings people joy, helps or excites them in some way. Somewhere with articles which will make you forget your worries, with tips on how to make the good better, and images which inspire, and words which motivate.

Maybe the content might not change too much, because as ever I'll be posting the things I love, but my attitude feels different.

chloeharriets 2.0 (possibly 3.0 by now) is going to be something special, and I'm so excited about it.

You'll be able to catch my posts at 9.30 on a Monday morning, and 6pm on Thursday. I will also be posting a new youtube video every Sunday, and sporadically (because I'm not superwomen) you can receive my newsletter in your inbox by signing up here.

For a while, I've claimed to be in search of peace and purpose, the new start on my little website feels like a piece of that purpose. I hope you'll join me while I continue the search.

I am so excited for the journey.

2020, let's do this.

All of my love,
C x

Lifestyle blogger Chloe Harriets smiling walking down the street - blogging tips
Lifestyle blogger Chloe Harriets smiling walking down the street - blogging tips

March this year, will mark my 5th year of blogging. Over these years, my blog has come a long way. Find myself both cringing as I look back at old posts, and proud of how far this little website has come. So I thought I share of some things I've picked up along the way, those things I do differently if I started a blog today.

Photography matters:

When I began my blog, I used to take one iPhone photo, which little thought went into. The picture would often be poorly composed, out of focus, and basically in the dark  (see old posts here and here for a lol). Over time I've developed my photography style, taught myself to use a camera, and got better at composing images. I fell in love with photography, and my blog saw the benefits - my views went up, my branding improved, and I found myself feeling more confident when telling others about my blog. Improving my photography, meant everything looked more professional, and myself and others began to take me more seriously as a blogger. Improving and learning about photography is made accessible with the right tools. The Panasonic Mirrorless camera is at the top of my wishlist, as it's the perfect tool to keep pushing my photography further, to continue improving and create better imagery than ever.

Make friends and help each other out:

Blogging should be fun, it should be social. Find a local event to go to. Make friends, don't be afraid to reach out to other bloggers. You already know you have plenty in common, and this industry will give you so much to talk about so there is no need to worry about awkward small talk. Not all blogging friends you have will work out (have I ever mentioned the time I got ghosted by a blogger?) but the ones that do, will absolutely be worth it.  Another good thing about having blogger friends is you can help each other out. My friend Madi and I often play photographer for each other. Not only has having a blogging friend been the source of many good days and lots of laughs, but it also offered me support, made attending events less daunting, it's also allowed me to practice my own photography but also get some pretty decent outfit shots myself.

Use Other Social Media Platforms:

Post to your Instagram, tweet etc,  don't be afraid to share your work.  Nobody will know your blog exists if you don't tell them. I've often fallen into the trap of working hard on this little blog and hoping people stumble across it rather than shouting about it. Sure, it can feel a little cringe at first, but everyone starts somewhere and putting your energy in something creative, no matter where you're at with it, it's something to be proud of. I've recently been trying to interact more of my social media channels, commenting on other people's feeds, letting them know when I like their work, with the knowledge that it might just make them feel good, and in turn, I've seen my followings grow. I've also recently decided to start using Pinterest to see if that can drive a bit more traffic to my blog.

Post what you want, not what you think you should post:

Your blog posts won't be as good when you're posting for others, rather than yourself. Good writing tends to come from a place of passion. Sure look elsewhere for inspiration, but post what you're interested in, not what you think others will want to read. There are bound to tonnes of people who like the same things as you, that will want to read your blog.

Be organised, be consistent, be realistic:

Plan your content realistically - don't say you're going to post three times a week when you can't keep it up. I've made the mistake before, it led to burn out, poor quality posts missed blog posts and guilt. Figure out a posting schedule which actually works for your lifestyle and keeping in mind you want the blog post to be the highest quality. Try to get ahead, blog when you've got free time, find the joy in blogging, and being organised will come hand in hand. If you're inspired and enjoying the blogging process you'll be ahead before you know it.

Recognise when burn out is coming:

There is, of course, such a thing as too much hard work and we're all prone to burn out once in a while. Catch it before it's too late. If you recognise burn out coming step away and give yourself a break. The likelihood is, you've been working on posts so hard that you deserve one.

Do something creative when you're lacking in inspiration:

Go for a walk with your camera, paint, write in your diary, anything which doesn't require thinking about blogging, when you come back to blogging you'll be feeling refreshed and inspired. Sometimes stepping away from the computer and living in the real world for a bit is all we need to find that spark again.

Be proud.

Where ever you're at with blogging, you should be proud. Whether it's your full-time gig or you're a complete blog newbie. Blogging takes hard work, often being vulnerable online,  and putting yourself out there and that is something you should find pride in.

On Being An Unsuccessful Blogger, and Why I Still Blog.

Lifestyle blogger outfit - on being an unsuccessful blogger, blog post
Lifestyle blogger outfit - on being an unsuccessful blogger, blog post

Recently, on my twitter timeline, I saw a tweet by Lauren which got me thinking. The tweet read:

"The term “aspiring blogger” makes me sad. if you have a blog and you post on it — you’re a blogger!

My first thought was that I completely agree, I find it so frustrating when someone refers to themselves as an 'aspiring blogger', or an aspiring anything. I think the word aspiring, is one which puts you down, disregards all that you already do. Once you do something, you do it.  What level you're at, doesn't take away from the fact that you're doing it. And by definition, you don't have to be earning a living, have a certain amount of followers, and x amounts to success to become a blogger - the act of blogging is what makes you a blogger.

But then, the devil in my back of my mind, whispered in my ear "but you're an aspiring blogger, though really Chloe, aren't you" Why? Because despite having blogged for years, I don't feel my blog is particularly successful. I've regularly written on the little website of mine since 2014. Sure, during these years, I've enjoyed coming to this place to write, to share my photography and my thoughts. Also, in this time, I've watched the blogging industry grow in front of my eyes, seen the successes of women and men who have been working with international fashion designers, and releasing books, and my Instagram feed has become full idyllic press trips and the people who are making blogging there full-time gig, earning a pretty decent wage.

In my time blogging, I've watched others become successful in this industry. I've admired them as I worked hard, and after all these years, it's still a passion project for me, I do it for the love, and I'm still yet to earn from this blog. My life is so different from all these blogger and influencer I admire.

When I tell people I have a blog, there are a couple of questions they tend to ask... "do you get sent free stuff?" "Do you have loads of Instagram followers?" Oh, so it that your job?"

The questions are flattering frustrating and embarrassing all at once, I usually find myself blushing and mumbling something about how they're overestimated me, and it's just a little hobby.

Why? because on paper, I'm not a successful blogger. I'm not saying that so people feel sorry for me, I'm saying that because that's how it is. I know of influencers, who started Instagram accounts a year ago, and they have a following which I can only dream of. I'm as it stands, not a very attractive blogger from a brands perspective. I've not yet reached 1000 followers on Instagram, let alone 10s of thousands. I have loyal readers on my blog, but I'm not being invited on exciting press trips or meeting with impressive people, and I'm not sure anyone actually cares if I really love Gilmore Girls or my undying need to writing about my feelings.  It often feels I'm too average, underwhelming, and invisible in the industry.

Yet still, I blog.

I dip in and out of blogging purely for me and trying to make something of it.  I still blog, because I write, I'm trying to get better at writing, and improve my photography. Having somewhere to share these things makes it feel like they matter. I enjoy spending my Sundays typing and dreaming of what my life could be if I were to become 'somebody' in the blogging world. I still blog, because I read blogs when I need to escape and feel inspired, and I hope this website can be that escape someone is looking for.

I feel in the past year, especially, there were some people, I watched online, who were, and still are killing it. They've got the whole #girlboss thing down, without the slightly outdated 2014 reference. These girls made something of themselves in this social media-driven world and achieved more in a year than I'd achieved in (almost) five. I hope if I keep working one day, I can achieve so much.

Blogging shouldn't just be about numbers and brand deals, it should be about heart, enjoyment and determination - and I know I've got those.

I'm a blogger, not an aspiring one, sure. Maybe I'm not a particularly successful one, but I don't think that matter, I've got all the time in the world to build that success. I'm still showing up, and I think that counts for more than we give it credit for.

I am a blogger, but I'm aspiring to be a better one, and I think that's really something.

blogging career diary life lifestyle personal thoughts writer writing

Dear Diary,

Friday, 2 November 2018

My mum tried to, kindly, talk to me about the big 'what next'. She told me that I need to think about it. I haven't been able to stop crying since, because it's all I've been thinking about and still I don't have the answer.

Everything I want to do with my life takes the building, and it seems people in the career paths I want to be in, have been given different bricks to me. I'm not saying they didn't work for it, because I know they did. But what happens when the work doesn't seem to be paying off? When you're completely invisible, how do you make yourself seen? The work never seems to form anything tangible. Other people just don't seem to care about it, does that mean it's time to give up?

I don't want to spend the rest of my life, in a job I dislike, I want a career I'm proud of, one which I've built with my own two hands, but maybe I'm incapable of that.

Logically, I know they haven't, but I feel the people around me have waltzed into the right careers and I've barely taken a step forward since graduating if anything I've stepped backwards.

I turn 27 soon, and I don't have a job, which for someone who reads endless career books, is heartbreaking.

People keep telling me "loads of people have jobs they don't want" I know they do, but is it really such a bad thing that I want more than that for myself? Wanting to enjoy my life, is not too much to ask for, surely.

I guess there's nothing to do, but keep working, and hopefully, in the future, I'll have some more positive diary entries to share,

Love,
Chloe x

Women I admire.

Monday, 8 October 2018

After feeling absolutely disgusted that Topshop took down the Feminist Don't Wear Pink pop-up, I wanted to bring a bit of girl power to my blog, so I thought I'd move forward a post I had scheduled for later in the month...

Here is a list of women I admire:

Scarlett Curtis

Yes, I drafted this list before the whole Topshop thing, and yes, Scarlett Curtis was someone it was inspired by. Scarlett is just doing so many good things for women, she is so wise and spreading so many good messages in the work she does with the Pink Protest, in her journalism, in her use of social media and now through her book and podcast. I am obsessed with her podcast, and I can't wait to read more of her book.

Gina Martin

Gina is so bloody inspiring. She campaigned to get the law against upskirting put into place, she spent some much time working to create change for other women, the world would be a better place if we were all this selfless. And beyond that, she often uses her platforms to talk about environmental issues on a day to day bases. I find her Instagram stories are the place to go to be educated on political and environmental issues in a digestible, unpatronising way.

Emma Watson

I feel my understanding of feminism grew a lot from Emma Watson's 'He for She' campaign, it taught me it's not a dirty word and it's wonderful to see someone use there influence for more than selling teeth whitening stripes.

My friend Jaynie

My friend Jaynie most likely won't expect to have made this list, however, I find she is someone who speaks conversationally and eloquently about issues such as slut-shaming, animal welfare and everyday sexism, so when I decided I wanted to I included someone I know in this list, Jaynie was the first person to come to mind.

Lucy Siegle

I first discovered Lucy when she came to guest lecture at my University. She spoke to us about sustainable fashion and environmental issues. Since I have followed her on twitter and have learnt so much about the impact we have on the environment from her post, she has made me want to be a better person and take better care of our planet.

Victoria Magath/Inthefrow

Victoria is a blogger whose work ethic I really admire, you can see in the quality and quantity of the content she puts out that the girl works undeniably hard. You can see she is quite literally building her dreams and that determination is something we could all do with a bit more of.

Liv Purvis

Liv seems to be the kindest most down to earth blogger, and beyond that, she recently founded The Insecure Girls' Club, and it's just what the internet needs. The fact that she decided to create a hub to make us girls feel better about ourselves is really something.

If you're looking for some new women to follow, this girl gang I think about capable of changing the world, so they're worth having on your radar!

As ever, please let me know some of the great women you admire

blogging branding fashion life lifestyle ootd thoughts

Myself, my style, my branding.

Wednesday, 11 October 2017
Recently, I've been a little quiet in the blog world - why?

I didn't post for a while, I was ~busy~ and then somewhere along the lines, I found myself questioning, who the hell I am.

I felt like I lost myself a bit, I felt obliged to write about lipsticks, but also CBA to write about lipsticks, because that doesn't give me the same relief typing out something far too personal about my non-existent love life, that I'll probably never have the balls to publish and if I do I'll both hope that the boy never reads it, and pray he does, all at the same time. I guess sometimes lipstick feels more important than others. My world doesn't always revolve around lipstick. Sometimes I want to lose reality in focus on material things. Sometimes I couldn't care less about material things and be the more raw version of myself. I couldn't figure out which version of myself felt 'right' to write about - what part of myself did I want to share with the internet?

It became easier to post nothing, because what I felt like writing about I might regreting giving a home on the internet, and beauty simply wasn't quite floating my boat all of the time.

So my space stayed quiet while I considered who I am, who I want to be, and who I admire.

I always wanted to continue blogging, I just wanted to grow with it, and create content which sat right with me. I guess the only way to figure out how to grow was to hit the pause button for a while and reflect.

I've changed and evolved so much over the years I've had my little blog, and I think it's time this acknowledged in my content.  I am also a different person day to day, and that is something I think needs to reflect in writing, and my posts. I am not going to write something which yet right yesterday if it doesn't today.

I also felt lost beyond this. Style-wise, I realised not so sure of myself anymore, and I feel a new haircut coming on, and a couple of expensive shopping trips - maybe it's time I finally get the capsule wardrobe I've been lusting after.

I feel the need for a rebrand, both personally and online here, I'm going to be trying out different things, and looking for a fit. I'm not going to changing up layout or anything, but I am going to take some time to rediscover myself, I may even go wild, and change up my Instagram a little (crazy, I know).

Am I who I want to be? and how do I become that person?

These questions keep swirling around in my head, and they're making me want to push myself more creativity. Step outside some comfort zones.

The spaces we create on the internet, are a little odd. They are a hyperreality, they tell stories, as we want, and we can manipulate them, to reflect us in any light we choose. Of course more than likely, we want to reflect, a true yet polished version of ourselves. But when you're questioning who you are, and the purpose of your creations, it hard to make it any substantial. I feel both very aware and unaware of who I am, I'm unsure how to reflect the version of myself I want to show because she is trapped in my own head and in the admiration of others. We are surrounded by images and they imprint on our thought on ourselves. I feel more comfortable with myself than ever, but how do I show that version of myself. I feel myself on the outside, on the inside and on the internet are all different people.

This post probably didn't make all that much sense, as it is a rambling stream of consciousness.  Yet for the sake of taking time to discover what I want to post,  I'll hold my breath and hit the publish button.

A few days have passed since I furiously sat at my desk and typed out this somewhat vague, confusing stream of consciousness, and with a bit of planning and blog schedule back in place, I am beginning to feel like myself again, I think there may be a bit of trial and error as I figure where I fit in the blogging world, but that's okay.

Take a Break.

Monday, 14 August 2017

No, this is not an ad for KitKat (however if KitKat did want to sponsor, I would be 100% game). You may have noticed recently my blog posts have been a little sparse lately. Why? Because I gave myself a break, and much to my surprise, the world did not end.

I was feeling uninspired, my imagination seemed to be failing me. For a creative person who can't get out of her own head, I felt as though I'd lost myself when my mind became empty.

At first, I found myself feeling down, and napping a little too often (odd, but there may be a post on this coming soon). Which developed into feeling sad, and having nothing to write about. My mind was blank, and my body felt tired, and in turn, I felt guilty, for not posting on my blog. Although my blog earns me no money, I still want it to be a successful place which fills me with pride. How was I going to get anything out of it, when I felt unable to put anything into it?

Then I decided, to stop forcing it, mainly because there was nothing left to force. I stopped allowing blogging to be my main concern and started looking for my happiness, and following my need to rest.

I took naps, a lot of them. I started reading again. I worked at my job, where I began allowing myself to enjoy it, I laughed at podcasts, I crocheted and watched Netflix. And my little space on the internet has not moved. It has just sat waiting for me.

I, however, feel like a new person. That motivation I was looking for has found me, and I'm excited to pick up where I left off, well, somewhere near there, where the grass is slightly greener.

I've learnt the importance of listening to your body, and that ultimately, you'll become a better version of yourself if you allow yourself the time that you need to just be.

Both mentally and creatively I feel the break has flipped my attitude and allowed me to refuel. I am no longer running on empty and once again feel as though I can, and want to create content I am proud of, be productive, and feel content within myself.

Sometimes it's nice to sit back while the world turn, and there's something in the stillness of the spinning creates the spark you forgot you had.

6 Loves: Blogs.

Monday, 10 July 2017

I thought I'd throw a little positivity into the blogosphere today, and share some of my favourite people of the internet with you. This is going to be the first part in a little series, beginning with my favourite blogs. I've got to be honest I struggled to narrow it down, but these are the ones I've found myself reading most recently.

Wish Wish Wish -The Photography on Carrie's blog is stunning, she has got her style down. Carrie travels plenty,  so you're sure to feel that wanderlust when scrolling. Not only is the photography flawless, but her writing is relatable. I recently read this post on Instagram and loved every single thing she said.

Grace Francesca - I think Grace is one of the most real, honest people I have come across in the blogosphere, she such a  girl boss. I love everything about her blog, the raw honesty and relatability. She is just very inspiring. Her recent post,  'Why I Started Blogging' was such a positive reflection on the world of blogging, and I found it really interesting to hear why somebody so successful started out!

Jaynie Shannon x - Jaynie is my BFF IRL, and she also has a great blog. If you're into reading beauty, it's the place to go. Her pictures a crisp and her she writes the best beauty pieces. Her writing also really just sounds like her, reading Jaynie's blog, I feel like I am just having a chat with her.

Madeliine Grace Blogs - Madi is someone else I know IRL. I love reading her blog, her style of writing just sits well with me, it's easy and interesting to read. Her blog has a diary feel to it, which I love.

The Cornish Life - I don't live in Cornwall, but this blog has given me some serious envy of those who do. Just looking at Anna's blog brings a calmness over me, the photography is full of beautiful blue landscapes. Anna is so relatable and in general a really nice girl. The Cornish Life is a great lifestyle blog where you can read everything from places to visit in Cornwall to leading an eco-friendly life. I loved her recent post 'Summer. This is it', it was such a great reminder to not let time slip away.

Wonderful--you - I love Megs writing for wonderful you, there is a true honesty to it, which makes it so relatable, and all of Megs writing is very heartfelt. Meg works with her friend Alexandra to get the most amazing, editorial style photography for the blog. Along with the sleek layout, this gives it a real profession magazine feel.

Easter Reading.

Sunday, 16 April 2017

Firstly, Happy Easter - I hope you all have a day full of chocolate and loved ones planned - and if you don't celebrate it, Happy Sunday - you also deserve a day of chocolate and loved ones.

Secondly. a sorry - I have hit publish on a blog post for a while, I'm not really sure what's happening, I've just been unorganised and busy. I feel as though I've been working on a lot of posts, but none have got to the publish stage - I didn't even manage to get a Sunday reading post out last week - however, I was in Cornwall doing something exciting, which you will hear all about in tomorrow's post (that's right it's scheduled and everything.)

What have I been up to?
Well, one of my closest friends Jaynie turned 25 at the start of the month, so we went for a meal to celebrate (I know, a lot more chilled and less alcohol-induced than her previous birthdays), it was lovely.

As I have already touched on - I went to Cornwall for the weekend - visited my friend Stacie from Uni, it was so so great to see her, I hadn't seen her in the year so we were in need of a massive catch up, and I got to do some crocheting with New Day Knitwear, and meet some lovely bloggers (all about that tomorrow).

I went for Indian food with my friends Hj and Bry - the food was great, and the chat was also great. I also went to Turtle Bay with Matt, again great food, great chats.

and I passed my theory test! Yay, I was a little late learning to drive starting at 25, but it's better late than never. It was my first time taking my theory, I passed which I'm super pleased with! I didn't find it too challenging, but I used the app to revise pretty much most days for a couple if week -  I wouldn't have stood a chance of passing if I hadn't done that.

and of course, I've been working and job searching.

My Blog
I've been quiet on a blog, I think partly because I told myself I'd step back from having a blog schedule, which sort of gave me nothing to aim for. So I'm putting a blog schedule back into place - with the only difference being that, if I'm not 100% happy with a post, I won't post it. I'm aiming to publish posts Monday's, Tuesday's, and Thursday's at 6.30pm, and of course a Sunday reading, at some point, each Sunday. However, I may be skipping days every now and then, as if I'm not completely happy with something, I'm not going to post for the sake of putting content out there. Quality is going to come before quantity, but I'm aiming for both (gotta reach high and all that!).

My Youtube Chanel
I am starting a new series on my Youtube Channel, all of which I'll explain in Wednesday's video. I am a little nervous about it, as it's based around quite a personal topic and I don't want people to get the wrong impression. Having said that, it feels very much like the right thing to do, and there will a video in the series I'm hoping once a month.

Reading - Blogs
In The Frow's How to Overcome Work Tiredness - I definitely don't have as busy of a work-life as Victoria does - but I do like to prioritise my time, and make the most of the day, if I'm not at work to get blog things done, and this was full of great tips.

Watching: Netflix
I recently finished 13 Reasons Why, and have not been able to stop thinking about it. I read the book a few years back (review here), and it had the same effect. I loved the series - I thought it was very well done, and really made some strong points. It makes you think, and if you haven't watched it, you should.

Watching: Youtube
Lily Pebbles Honest Q&A because it's so refreshing to see a Q&A where the questions are beyond what's your favourite lipstick (as much as we all like to hear that, it's I love when things get a little deeper), also Lily's Spring Wardrobe and Haul Video - it was great to see her give credit to those who have inspired her and here the way she been incorporating colour into her wardrobe (I know I mention Lily every week, but I love her channel, she videos are always amazing quality and love how honest and genuine she is).

Listening: Podcasts
The Banging Book Club on A Quiet Kind of Thunder - I really enjoyed this episode, in general, I found Lucy, Hannah and Leena definitely all made me laugh out loud a few times whilst listening(hello, concerned stares on the bus).

Crash on my Couch 1 - I thought the first episode from Will and Arden Podcast was great, and I'm excited to see what else is to come. I love the way they split it into sections, it just made it a little different from any of podcast I've previously listened to. I also like that Will and Arden are a couple because I find it fascinating seeing how couples interact with each other (is that weird? I feel like I've just admitted something weird)

I have rambled on far too long (I missed last weeks, so what did you expect), I'll let you return to your families and chocolate now.

I hope you're all having a great easter!
Love, C. x

Write About It...

Tuesday, 10 January 2017
Like most, I'm a big fan of stationary (who isn't?) I recently I realised I have a pretty excessive amount of notebooks, and when I tried to have a clear out, I then realise I actually get plenty of use out of the whole bunch so I thought I'd share my love and uses for notebooks with you.

I have 9 notebooks in total I want to talk to you about - yeah, I have slight notebook addiction, but I like writing things down, and well, stationary helps me convince myself I'm organised, even when I'm not...

Firstly I have my 2017 diary - mine is from Kate Spade (find it here) and I use it pretty much daily to organise my plans and to check what I am doing. I had the same diary for 2016, just in a bigger size. I enjoyed using it so much that I felt the need to repurchase. I love that this diary both has the entire month laid on a page and each week laid out on a page so I can see either my plans for the month or my plans for the wee which just makes everything very easy. Also, I did notice this year they added monthly to-do lists, which is just pretty damn cute.

While we're on the subject of diaries, let's talk about my other ones (...because one is clearly not enough). I like to write everything down, so I have a diary for 'dear diary' purposes. It started out for me to record memories, but it's slowly turned into getting anything off my chest, and if I'm honest it mainly consists of "I fancy this boy, and he doesn't fancy me back"... but I find it very therapeutic to write down my thoughts, no matter how ridiculous they really are. For this, I used another Kate Spade notebook (similar here).  This one is yellow, with the words "a likely story" on the cover. I loved the quote on the front which is why I choose this one, being yellow however it does tend to get a tad grubby.  This diary is very typical teenage girl, but I wouldn't be without it.

To record daily thoughts and goings on, I recently began a One Line A Day, 5-year memory book - which some far I've kept up (only another, almost 5 years left to go). I love the idea of this, it makes looking back so simple, and as it's only a line it's easy to maintain. You just fill out the year with each entry. I can't wait until a couple of years in to see how much my life has changed.

Now, let's talk blog organisation... I have a couple of notebooks I use for this...

The first is from The White Company, it's a grey notebook with the words Do Small Things with Great Love on the front - a nice little reminder to put love into everything. The pages inside are plain, which means I can be a little more creative with what goes on them. Originally, I bought this book intending to use it as a bullet journal - but slowly it became more of a blog post date planner and to-do list book.

The next blog planning notebook I have is from Kate Spade (again. Can you telI I'm a fan?!) and it's my favourite notebook of the lot. On the cover, it says "with freedom, books, flowers and the moon, who could not be happy?" which I think is possibly the most wonder quote ever (especially as I'm a very big fan of freedom, books, flowers and the moon). I use this notebook to jot down idea's, draft posts, plan video etc. I do however wish I kept this book for my personal diary, however, as it's so lovely (but I may repurchase it when I use this one up... is that acceptable?)

The newest to my collection is my Daily Journal from Oh Deer. The cover is a plain turquoise colour with the words daily journal printed in a rose gold. The pages inside are laid out perfectly to plan to your day. It just has everything you need. I've only used it a few times so far but I've loved using it, it's just made everything very easy to schedule in.

I'm attempting to immerse myself into the world of poetry writing, as it is something I'd love to be good at - so I find myself writing a couple of (usually awful) poem each week - and I keep them all written in this little red book - so hopefully in a few months time I'll be able to flick through and see an improvement.
Lastly, I've got some of the Zoella lifestyle stationary (full blogpost here). I use the Once Upon A Time notebook for general life organisation - it's where the shopping lists and things to remember go.
And then for the last smidge of organisation some weeks, I'll use the Zoella She Designed a Life She Loved Book to plan my days and write weekly to do lists.

Please tell me I'm not the only one with an addiction to notebooks...
