Christmas Home Decorations...Better Late than Never
Monday, 29 December 2014
I can't believe Christmas is already over! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, I certainly did and got very spoilt!
I just came across some photos I took of the Christmas decorations we had around the house this year to make it feel more festive and realised I never got around to posting this on here, so here they are ... better late than never right?!
I'll be so sad when the time comes to take them down, it is still acceptable to have them up for a week or two more, right?

I'm not really into lip balms much, mainly because it is not often my lips feel dry so they don't seem like something I need, plus I also usually have lipstick or gloss on my lips, therefore lip balms aren't usually something I find myself buying.
However, when my sister had some unused Body Shop Lip Balms she didn't want, so of course, I was going to take them off her hands. I wasn't really expecting to get much use from them if I am completely honest. However, I have found myself pleasantly surprised.
I have been using these lip balms so much more than I expected. They smell so delicious I'm always half tempted to eat them! All of the scents are very sweet and strong. The scents I have are Passionberry, Raspberry, and two Watermelon ones. I really like all of the flavours, I'm a sucker for sweet smells. My favourite is the Raspberry, but I have been getting so much use out of all of them.
Obviously being lip balms they do not give your lips much colour despite how colourful they may look in the packaging. However this has not prevented me using them, as I just been using them in the morning and evenings to give my lips a bit of moisture, and it is safe to say I have definitely seen a difference in my lips - they feel a lot softer, which also means my lipstick applies much smoother which is always good.
Even if you don't feel you need these I would recommend trying them out, they have made such a difference to my lips, despite my lips never feeling in need of lip balm in the first place!

November Favourites
Sunday, 14 December 2014
Firstly I would like to say sorry I'm a bit late to the game with this blog post. I have had the photographs taken and the post half written for ages, however as I am currently working in retail, and Christmas in nearing I have been required to work more hours recently, so have only just had the chance to give this blog post some much needed finishing touches.
November has came and gone very quickly this year. I have to say, November has been a pretty good month for me. I have my birthday at the start of the month, I started a new job, which I am happy with, for now. It was also my brothers and best friends birthday towards the end of the month. Anyway with all these little exciting things going on the month seemed to fly by, and it's not half way through December and I'm only just getting around to publishing my November favourites.
My first favourite was a birthday present from my Mum, so thank you very much Mum. It's a purse from the brand Pied A Terre. I find this purse is so much more convenient than my last purse because it's much smaller so I can fit it into smaller handbags. Having said it's small, however there is still plenty of room inside the purse. It has two zip compartments, I like to use one for change and the other for receipts, bus tickets, and other bits and bobs, it also has six card compartments (which is just the right amount for me), and a large compartments for cash. I also love the classic look to this purse. It's in neutral colours, which means I can pretty much use it with any bag and outfit. The outside of the purse is a black leather, with snakeskin print detailing, with the inside in a contrast cream colour and golden details. Such a beautiful classic look. It was a great choice, thank you Mum.
My next favourite I have kind of had a love/hate relationship with, yet I could not stop myself reaching for it most days through the month. It's the Rimmel Provocalips in the shade 500 - Kiss me you fool... before I get into talking (well, typing) about the actual product, how cute this the shade name of this product?!
Anyways... What I love about this product is how long-lasting it is. It's the longest-lasting lip product I have ever used. I can work for the entire day and when I finish my lipstick will still be intact. Considering how much I touch my face (it's a really bad habit I know, I just can't help it), this is amazing for me. The shade I have got is a classic bright red colour which I think is perfect and festive for this time of year, and I can wait to get my hands on some more of the shades. However as I said earlier I have a love/hate relationship with this product, so I'd better share the negatives with you too! This product is very drying on the lips, which obviously isn't ideal. I also don't like the packaging of the product much, I just think it seems quite cheap, obviously, it is a high street product so understandable the packaging isn't so luxurious - however, I'm a sucker for nice packaging, as silly as it seems a lot of the time I buy higher-end products because I love the nice packaging. I also find it a bit more difficult to apply this neatly, I think the is mainly because I'm used to applying lipsticks straight from the bullet, however, this has a lipgloss type wand for application, and if you had read my blog before you'll know I never really wear lipgloss besides the odd Tanya Burr gloss (which I love), meaning I'm not the greatest at apply gloss neatly, which usually isn't a problem with your standard gloss. This product, however, has the pigmentation of a bright red lipstick, so you need to be quite neat with your application. Yet despite these few flaws, I have still found myself reaching for the product on pretty much a daily basis as it's so long-lasting.
Topshop Lip Liner - Deception
Thirdly I have a lipliner from Topshop in the shade Deception (I think, I can't find a shade name on the product, but looks like the one from searching online). I don't often use lipliners, mainly because I don't own many but I thought it was about time a got myself a dark berry lip liner considering how often I wear berry coloured lips this time of year and berry lips are a pain to keep neat and long-lasting. Anyway, I am definitely beginning to really love this product and will definitely be looking into getting some more of the Topshop lip liners, they're a steal at just £5. What I love the most about this lip liner is how many different lipsticks I've been able to wear it with, I have used it with a fair few shades from my lipstick collection and it's looked great with them all, as well as keeping my lipstick intact just that little bit longer. It also applies really smoothly and I think the package of the pencil is quite cute too.
Taylor Swift - 1989
Music-wise I have really been enjoying Taylor Swifts new album 1989. It's much more of a 'pop' album in comparison to her other albums. I like all of the songs and I love the lyrics Taylor writes - I know some people hate Taylor style of writing, she is an artist people either love or hate - well I love her. I find I can relate to her lyrics, and enjoy listening to the songs.
What I like most about this album, is although a lot of the songs are about relationship and heartbreak, they don't have a super depressing tone to them if you get what I mean? It's slightly more upbeat than her other albums.
I also think her style is on point at the moment.. not that has anything to do with the album but seriously look at her...
... I'm not going to lie, I got very distracted from writing this blog post because I have been looking at pictures of Taylor Swift. Major girl crush.
Now back one to my favourites... The next one I have already written a blog post on, it's the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge which I have begun using to apply my foundation and concealer. I'm not going to go into detail about this one as I have already written an entire blog post on it which you can find here. To put it shortly, it's quick, easy to use and applies to make up nicely for the perfect 'natural' look.
Primark Candle - Red Berry and Jasmine
Last but not least during the month of November I have been enjoying lighting candles a lot. The candles I have been burning were a massive steal costing just 80p from Primark! I have this candle in the scents Red Berry & Jasmine, and Amazon Lily. I also have a larger candle from Primark in the scent Blackcurrant & Orchid (which you can also get a small version of for 80p). I actually prefer the small version of the Primark candles, I think they're cuter, and I also like that they're in clear glass so you can see the flame. Also if you get bored of the scent it's easy enough to just pick up another at just 80p. My favourite of the scents I have is the Red Berry and Jasmine which is a very sweet smell. These candles are great, they are nicely scented and pretty, the only slight complaint is that they don't burn that evenly.. which let's be honest isn't really a problem when you're paying 80p. So if you're looking to get some nice scented candles on a budget Primark is the place to go! I talk more about it in this blog post.
I hope you all had a lovely November! I would love to hear some of your favourites from the month!
Lots of love

A Full Lipstick Stand
Monday, 1 December 2014
Being a self-confessed beauty addict, my biggest weak spot is lipstick. I'm a sucker for different lipsticks because no two shades of red are the same, right? Some days are a nude lipstick day, some are pink, some are red - every day, however, is a lipstick day.
Anyway, it has recently came to my attention that I have finally filled my lipstick stand, so I thought I'd share the shades I have with you. To some of you, this may seem like a lot, and to others, it may seem like hardly any - I am in no way bragging, just sharing some thoughts on my lipstick collection with you.
I am not going to swatch any of the colours as there are quite a few but if you wish to see swatches of any or more detailed blog posts feel free to request that in the comments, and I will link any previous blog post that featuring any of the lipsticks mentioned here.
I'm going to tell you the shades starting with the back row and working forwards.
The back row is high street lipsticks, most of which I don't often reach for. Here are all the shades in the back row working from left to right:
- Rimmel 230 Red Fever - it's a high street blue toned classic red shade. I really like the smell of these lipsticks, however, they do feel quite 'cheap' on your lips.
- Maxfactor 715 Ruby Tuesday - I've hardly used this lipstick since having it, however, I do love the shade, I just always forget I have it, but I am definitely going to try to start using this a bit more. Once again this is just a classic red shade, but slightly brighter than the previous lipstick.
- Seventeen lipstick, I'm not sure of the shade as it's rubbed off - However, it's a pink-toned red.
- Rimmel Kate Moss 31 - one of my more used high street lipsticks, it's in a muted berry colour and also smells delicious
- Rimmel another one I'm unsure of the shade name, sorry! - this is a pretty pastel pink colour with a small amount of glitter in it, this is one of the first lipsticks I ever fell in love with, and the colour is perfect if you're just beginning to wear makeup as it is still fairly natural-looking.
- Rimmel Provocalips Kiss me you fool - firstly how cute is the shade name of this lipstick? This is my most recent lip purchase and I've got to say I love this, it's super long-lasting and the bright red colour is perfect for the Christmas season, the only downside is it is slightly drying. I'm planning to write an entire blog post on this product soon so keep an eye out for that!
The next row is a mixture of both high end and high street lipsticks. Working from left to right we have:
- Clinique high impact lipstick 'red-y to wear' (I think, the writing has rubbed off but looks the same on the website) - I love this lipstick, for a very long time this was my go-to red lipstick and has almost run out now. The shade is a shimmery red colour with a slight pink tone.
- Illamasqua Liable - to be honest, I was slightly disappointed with the product as I find it really drying, and it does not apply very smoothly, however, I like the package and it's is fairly long-lasting. This is a matt, orange-toned red.
- Nars Heatwave - This is another orange toned red, however, I really love this one. I wrote a whole blog post on this one a fair while ago, which you can find here.
- Calvin Klein Eros - A muted berry colour, this lipstick featured in my September Favourites which you can find here.
- Soap and Glory Pom soap Pom - Yet another muted berry shade. This is one of my current favourites. This lipstick featured in an Autumn lips post I did not so long ago which you can find here.
- Rimmel Apocalips Gloss Apocalyptic - This is another one I don't wear much, I think more because it's a lipgloss rather than a lipstick and I don't often find myself reaching for a lipgloss. The shade, however, is beautiful and super pigmented. It's a bright pinky-red colour.
The second row of my lipstick stand is high-end lipsticks (and a high street gloss on the end). The shades from left to right are as follows:
- Laura Mercier Sienna - This one is quite new so I've only worn it a few times before. It's a deep purple toned berry colour which I think is perfect for this time of year. I also think the packaging is beautiful
- MAC Ruby Woo - I am sure most of you have heard of this one before. It's a classic matt red. I find this one quite drying, so I don't use it all that much.
- MAC Lady Danger - Another one I'm sure most of you have heard of. This is a bright orange toned red which I love. I have done an entire blog post on this one which you can find here.
- MAC Girl About Town - One of my all-time favourite pink shades. It's a deep blue-toned pink, I have written a blog post on this (a very long time ago now!) which you can find here.
- MAC Pink Nouveau - This is a pale pink with a purple/blue tone to it. I love this colour, however, I don't often wear this one as I don't think it suits my skin tone all that much. It looks wonderful on my sister though!
- Barry M Lip Gloss (I'm not sure of the shade, unfortunately) - I never really use this. It's just a simple pink gloss which is handy to have, just in case.
Lastly, we have the front row, which naturally is a lot of my more loved lipsticks. The shades from left to right are:
- Chanel 21 Rivoli - This is a dark deep berry colour, perfect for Autumn lips.
- Chanel 38 La Fascinante - This is a classic, matt red shade.
- Chanel 37 L'Exuberante - This is a bright pink shade that I get out a lot during the summer months.
- Chanel 136 Melodieuse - This is a coral shade (you might be able to tell I like Chanel lipstick a lot - they just feel so luxurious and I love the packaging too.
- Estee Lauder Venetian Rose - This is the only nude lipstick I have ever found which actually suits me. It's a beautiful peachy nude colour.
- Tanya Burr Picnic in the Park - This is the only lipgloss I ever really wear. I have written an entire blog post on this which you can find here.
Last but not least, we have the one by the side (which annoying does not fit in the lipstick stand), this is Lancome L'absolu Rouge which is a bright shimmery red colour, which also smells delicious. This does bleed around the lips slightly so I would recommend a lip liner with this one.
What's your all-time favourite lipstick?
Love Chloe
xx
