Lately, I've felt an urge to mix up the beauty routine. To simplify it. I'm very lucky that my skin is usually clear, and I felt confident to go completely bare-faced. Yet still, somehow, every time I wear makeup, I find myself spending time applying layers of products, which is absolutely great on those days I want to spend my time blending eyeshadow and painting my skin and leave the house with the knowledge I've made myself up how I wanted. Sometimes a long-winded, many products makeup routine can be empowering. However, sometimes I want to be able to blitz a beauty routine, embrace my skin as it is, and by just added a few products which make me feel a little fresher, and nothing more.

So I've been cutting out a few products, including Foundation, Contour, Brow Pomade and Eyeshadow and complete a daily beauty look with less. Going for a natural glowy look.

Here are the products I did still use:
Marc Jacobs Concealer (similar linked)
Chanel Bronzer Soleil Tan De Chanel
Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff
Marc Jacobs Glow Stick
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder
Lancome Mascara
Surratt Lash Curlers
Glossier The Cherry Balm Dot Com.

I've found myself also empowered knowing I can keep my make up routine simple on a day to day bases, and still feel confident.

Lipstick Collection.

Wednesday, 21 June 2017

If you have followed my blog for a while, you will know I'm a lover of lipsticks. Red lips, pink lips, nude lips, purple lips - I'm in. I love the way a lipstick can transform your entire look, and there are so many options.

On my Youtube channel today, I decided to share my lipstick collection with you. I originally I filmed a lipstick clear out - after getting rid of 7 of my 47 lipstick, I'd realised I'd filmed it all on a busted memory card, so frustratingly had to refilm, minus the clear out. But I'm glad I did it, just I've to share them all with you, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

I thought I'd write a blog post with the lipstick details and notes on, so you have all the info you need.

The Nudes
- Marc Jacobs Enamoured Hi-Shine Gloss in 316 French Tickler (£22) - I know this is technically a gloss, but it's the only gloss I have so thought it was worth a mention. It's virtually a clear gloss. Not at all sticky, comfortable to wear and minty.
- Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist (£3.50) - Hydrating and Comfortable to Wear. More details in this post.
- Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lip in Candy K (17usd -it's also worth taking shipping costs into consideration if you're UK based like me) - Would recommend using a liner (I bought the lip kit). A little drying but really long-lasting. More details in this post.
- Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick - 09 Venetian Rose (discontinued sorry!)
- Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss Lipstick in 38 (£5.50) - I wouldn't say it's really got much of a lasting finish
- MAC Matte Velvet Teddy (£16.50) - One of my favourite nudes. Fairly long-lasting without being too drying. Full post here
- Chanel Rouge Coco in 402 Adrienne (£28) - Hydrating and comfortable to wear. One of my favourite nudes.
- Charlotte Tilbury Sexy Sienna (£24)
- MAC Matte Whirl (£16.50) - One of my favourite darker nude shades. Long-lasting and comfortable to wear. Full post here.
-Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in 230 J'Adore (£25) - This is my favourite lipstick formula - really long-lasting and hydrating - This is also one of my most worn colours.

The Pinks
- MAC Satin Pink Nouveau (£16.50)
- Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet 37 L'Exubérante (£28) - Comfortable to wear and hydrating for a matte finish.
- Chanel Rouge Allure 136 Mélodieuse (£28)
- MAC Amplified Girl About Town (£16.50) - One of my most worn pinks. Full post here.
- Clinique 47 Matte Peony (£19.50) - Full post here.
- Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in 216 Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (£25) - Again that great Marc Jacobs formula
- Soap and Glory Pom Pom (discontinued, sorry) - A really great lasting formula for a high street Lipstick
- Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick in Peony (£19)
- NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm (£6)

The Reds
https://shopstyle.it/l/be5Tg (£30)
Nars Heat Wave (£21) - Long Lasting Hydrating Formula. One of my favourite orange toned reds. A full (very old) post here
MAC Matte Lady Danger (£16.50)- Another one of my favourite orange-red lipsticks. Full post here
Kiko Intensely Lavish Lipstick in 03 - Smudges easily - would recommend using a liner with it.
MAC Matte Russian Red (£16.50)
MAC Ruby Woo (£16.50) - Very long-lasting but also quite drying
Bourjois Rouge Velvet 20 Poppy Days (£8.99) - Full post here
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in 08 Tesoro (£16) - It actually stays all day and smells like cakes.
Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Mary Jo K (17usd and be aware of shipping costs) - Really long-lasting and quite drying. A bit of a pain to apply - needs liner really. Also smells very sweet.
Clinique Chubby Stick in 05 Chunky Cherry (£18) - Feels nice, is not long-lasting.
Kiko Vivid Colour Lipstick Pencil in 09 Matta Rossetto
Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in 200 Oh Miley! (£25) - One of my favourite Reds.
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in 38 La Fascinante (£28)
Clinique 12 Red-y to wear (£19.50)

The Purples
Mac Matte Retro Liquid Lipcolour in High Drama (£17.50) - Very drying, patchy and difficult to apply, but I love the colour
Gosh 171 Twilight (£7.99)
Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Perfection Lipstick in 30 (£5.50)
Chanel Rouge Coco in 21 Rivoli (colour discontinued, sorry!)
Charlotte Tilbury Glastonberry (£24)
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen (£6)

Please let me know which are your favourite shades and make sure you watch the video below for swatches!

What's on my face?

Thursday, 8 September 2016
I used my brand new Morphe 35OS Palette for the first time this morning. Once I'd finished doing my makeup I loved the final look, so I decided to share everything I put on my face, along with my first impression of the palette.

The Base:
Too Faced Hangover Primer: I love this coconut scented primer. It keeps everything in place, and give a nice even base, and somewhat tacky texture to apply make up.
NYX BB Cream: This BB Cream is becoming my go to base product. It's perfect for when I want a light coverage and a natural look.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer: I used this concealer under my eyes because it really brightens up those dark circles.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer: I popped this one over any blemishes, it's a bit more heavy duty and in a slightly darker shade than the Rimmel one.

The Complexion:
Annasatia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit (used the shade Havana): I simply used this to give myself some cheek bones, it's perfect to add a little 'shadow' to the face.
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universel: This cream bronzer blends like a dream and adds plenty of warmth to the face.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light: The finely milled powder creates a dewy look and keeps makeup in place and from creasing. It's got some shimmer in it, so it's not the one if you want a matte finish to face. The product also works great as a light highlighter. I, however, wanted a dewy look so I popped this all over.
L'Oreal Blush Sculpt in Soft Rosy: A pop of this on the apples of my cheeks added the perfect amount of flush to my face.
Becca Champagne Pop - The infamous champagne pop highlighter, for the pink toned most shimmery highlight you could want.

The Brows:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in the shade Auburn: This waxy pomade is perfect to fill in my brows.

The Eyes:
Morphe Palette 35OS: I used the brightest orange shade in the top corner and the red shade a shades down. I love an orange/red eye look, I think it's such an easy way to make a statement. I also popped a small amount of one of the brown shades to lightly line the top of my eyelid. On first impressions, all of the shades are very pigmented with a nice amount of shimmer. Everything blended really lovely, and I love the look these shades created. I went for the brightest shades in the palette because I wanted to experiment with creating a bold look using this palette - however it certainly has enough shades to create a neutral look if that's what you like. On first impressions I'm very happy with the palette!
No. 7 Lash Curlers: To give my straight lashes a bit of a lift
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara: My favourite drugstore mascara, it does all the right things for my short lashes.
Lips
Estée Lauder Lipstick (the shade has unfortunately been discontinued): This lipstick is perfect for a natural looking pink-toned lip.
Setting:
NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray: This setting spray is the perfect finish for this dewy look.

I'd love to hear what you think of this make-up look. I can see myself throwing this products on my face a whole lot more.

Chanel Palette.

Saturday, 20 August 2016
After constant lusting and a manic search around Superdrug to find a worthy dupe, I finally gave in a bought myself the new Chanel  Les 4 Ombres in new Candeur Et Expérience shade. The quad contains all matte shades. Three of which are browns and the final is a beautiful red shade. It was originally the red which attracted me to the palette. I mean, as lovely as the browns may be, we all have plenty of neutral shades eyeshadows in our collections, right? Red, however, is a different story. I searched high street brands to find similar colours, but is seems reds are really quite lacking outside of palettes, which is ridiculous considering the stunning look a red can create.

I've got to say, despite the hefty price tag, this palette was worth every penny. I love all of the shades, and will get plenty of wear from each colour. You can create many looks with the 4 shades, and I think the matte finish gives the shadow a striking maturity. As I have touched on, the red shade is gorgeous and can be used to create a real statement look. The other brown shades are very warm and really compliment my pale skin tone. Although I have many brown eyeshadows, I often find them to be slightly too cool to achieve the look I want - so despite my neutral eyeshadow obsession, the palette is certainly filling a gap in my collection (which also makes me feel much better about splashing out when I was supposed to be saving money).

Being Chanel, of course, the packaging is super sophisticated, with the classic black with white Chanel logo, which opens up to the shadows, a mirror and two miniature sponge brushes for application. I usually think sponge brushes are a waste of time and money, because let's are realistic, most of us whack out a MAC 217, and one of our real techniques favourites to apply and blend our shadow. However, I tried these out of curiosity, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality the brushes, and what a lovely job they did of blending. I won't be using them on a regular bases, but I can see myself relying on them for travel which saves packing extra, or worrying if you forget.

On first impressions, I am very pleased with this palette. I think it has that Chanel luxury feel, I love every single colour, and the quality of the eyeshadow and the package makes it worth the higher price tag.

I'm really happy with this look I created  when playing with the quad for the first time.
What do you think?

Love,
Chloë x

Colour Obsession | Oxblood

Tuesday, 17 November 2015
When I treated myself to the beautiful Mulberry purse, I realised I am a little obsessed with the oxblood colour, especially this time of year!
My current go to Lipstick and Nail Varnish are in almost the exact same colour as my purse. I get so much wear out of this colour. The shade some how makes a subtle statement, giving an Autumn Winter vibe to any outfit, and is neutral enough to pair with almost anything.

Nail Polish: Essie Wicked
Lipstick: Chanel Rouge Coco 21 Rivoli
Purse: Mulberry Small Oxblood Purse (similar linked)
The perfect items to finish off a classic sophisticated look.

What's your favourite colour to accessorise with at the moment?

I'm thinking of doing more of these colour obsession posts so this may be the first in a little series. Let me know what you think!

A Full Lipstick Stand

Monday, 1 December 2014
Being a self-confessed beauty addict, my biggest weak spot is lipstick. I'm a sucker for different lipsticks because no two shades of red are the same, right? Some days are a nude lipstick day, some are pink, some are red - every day, however, is a lipstick day.

Anyway, it has recently came to my attention that I have finally filled my lipstick stand, so I thought I'd share the shades I have with you. To some of you, this may seem like a lot, and to others, it may seem like hardly any - I am in no way bragging, just sharing some thoughts on my lipstick collection with you.

I am not going to swatch any of the colours as there are quite a few but if you wish to see swatches of any or more detailed blog posts feel free to request that in the comments, and I will link any previous blog post that featuring any of the lipsticks mentioned here.

I'm going to tell you the shades starting with the back row and working forwards.

The back row is high street lipsticks, most of which I don't often reach for. Here are all the shades in the back row working from left to right:
  • Rimmel 230 Red Fever - it's a high street blue toned classic red shade. I really like the smell of these lipsticks,  however, they do feel quite 'cheap' on your lips.
  • Maxfactor  715 Ruby Tuesday - I've hardly used this lipstick since having it, however, I do love the shade, I just always forget I have it, but I am definitely going to try to start using this a bit more. Once again this is just a classic red shade, but slightly brighter than the previous lipstick.
  • Seventeen lipstick, I'm not sure of the shade as it's rubbed off - However, it's a pink-toned red.
  • Rimmel Kate Moss  31 - one of my more used high street lipsticks, it's in a muted berry colour and also smells delicious
  • Rimmel another one I'm unsure of the shade name, sorry! - this is a pretty pastel pink colour with a small amount of glitter in it, this is one of the first lipsticks I ever fell in love with, and the colour is perfect if you're just beginning to wear makeup as it is still fairly natural-looking.
  • Rimmel Provocalips Kiss me you fool - firstly how cute is the shade name of this lipstick? This is my most recent lip purchase and I've got to say I love this, it's super long-lasting and the bright red colour is perfect for the Christmas season, the only downside is it is slightly drying. I'm planning to write an entire blog post on this product soon so keep an eye out for that!
The next row is a mixture of both high end and high street lipsticks. Working from left to right we have:
  • Clinique high impact lipstick 'red-y to wear' (I think, the writing has rubbed off but looks the same on the website) -  I love this lipstick, for a very long time this was my go-to red lipstick and has almost run out now. The shade is a shimmery red colour with a slight pink tone.
  • Illamasqua Liable - to be honest, I was slightly disappointed with the product as I find it really drying, and it does not apply very smoothly, however, I like the package and it's is fairly long-lasting. This is a matt, orange-toned red.
  • Nars Heatwave - This is another orange toned red, however, I really love this one. I wrote a whole blog post on this one a fair while ago, which you can find here.
  • Calvin Klein Eros - A muted berry colour, this lipstick featured in my September Favourites which you can find here.
  • Soap and Glory Pom soap Pom - Yet another muted berry shade. This is one of my current favourites. This lipstick featured in an Autumn lips post I did not so long ago which you can find here.
  • Rimmel Apocalips Gloss Apocalyptic - This is another one I don't wear much, I think more because it's a lipgloss rather than a lipstick and I don't often find myself reaching for a lipgloss. The shade, however, is beautiful and super pigmented. It's a bright pinky-red colour.
The second row of my lipstick stand is high-end lipsticks (and a high street gloss on the end). The shades from left to right are as follows:
  • Laura Mercier Sienna - This one is quite new so I've only worn it a few times before. It's a deep purple toned berry colour which I think is perfect for this time of year. I also think the packaging is beautiful
  • MAC Ruby Woo - I am sure most of you have heard of this one before. It's a classic matt red. I find this one quite drying, so I don't use it all that much.
  • MAC Lady Danger - Another one I'm sure most of you have heard of. This is a bright orange toned red which I love. I have done an entire blog post on this one which you can find here.
  • MAC Girl About Town - One of my all-time favourite pink shades. It's a deep blue-toned pink, I have written a blog post on this (a very long time ago now!) which you can find here.
  • MAC Pink Nouveau - This is a pale pink with a purple/blue tone to it. I love this colour, however, I don't often wear this one as I don't think it suits my skin tone all that much. It looks wonderful on my sister though!
  • Barry M Lip Gloss (I'm not sure of the shade, unfortunately) - I never really use this. It's just a simple pink gloss which is handy to have, just in case.
Lastly, we have the front row, which naturally is a lot of my more loved lipsticks. The shades from left to right are:
  • Chanel 21 Rivoli - This is a dark deep berry colour, perfect for Autumn lips.
  • Chanel 38 La Fascinante - This is a classic, matt red shade.
  • Chanel 37 L'Exuberante - This is a bright pink shade that I get out a lot during the summer months.
    • Chanel 136 Melodieuse - This is a coral shade (you might be able to tell I like Chanel lipstick a lot - they just feel so luxurious and I love the packaging too.
    • Estee Lauder Venetian Rose - This is the only nude lipstick I have ever found which actually suits me. It's a beautiful peachy nude colour.
    • Tanya Burr Picnic in the Park - This is the only lipgloss I ever really wear. I have written an entire blog post on this which you can find here.

Last but not least, we have the one by the side (which annoying does not fit in the lipstick stand), this is Lancome L'absolu Rouge which is a bright shimmery red colour, which also smells delicious. This does bleed around the lips slightly so I would recommend a lip liner with this one.

    What's your all-time favourite lipstick?

    5 Autumn Lipstick | Beauty

    Wednesday, 22 October 2014
I'm sure many beauty lovers will agree with me, that when Autumn comes around, it's time be a little braver when it comes to lip colours. Away go the pink, nudes to be replaced with deep reds, and dark berry tones. Personally, I love autumnal makeup, as I feel much more comfortable in a dark berry lip, rather than a natural lip - it's just not really me.

Just a little warning before you read any further- I would say the swatches look slightly different through the camera lens - so if you like the sound of a lips colour from my description you might be better to go off and swatch it yourself than only refer to my swatches!
So here are some of my go-to current lipstick for an autumn lip...

five lipsticks including Channel, Mac, Soap & Glory, Rimmel Kate Moss and Calvin Klien

Red & Berry lipsticks including Channel, Mac, Soap & Glory, Rimmel Kate Moss and Calvin Klien
Red & Berry lipsticks including Channel, Mac, Soap & Glory, Rimmel Kate Moss and Calvin Klien

Let's start with the most pricey of the five.

Chanel Rouge Coco in the shade 21 Rivoli - this lipstick is a lot more high end than the rest of the lipsticks here, costing £25. This is definitely a lipstick for if you're willing to spend a little extra, and looking for high-end luxury.

As you can see this lipstick of mine is well-loved and slightly battered - it has been through the wash and thrown into a million different handbags, however, this is only because it is one of my favourites go-to lipsticks.
This is the darkest lipstick I own, so only really comes out this time of year.

I'd describe this colour as a dark plum. It has a brown, purple tone to it. I love this colour for this time of year and want to invest in some more similar shades. This lipstick has a slight shine to the finish, which I like with a darker lipstick as I feel it gives it a more feminine edge.

I really like the formula of Chanel Lipstick, I find them really moisturising and long-lasting. I also love the packaging - I think with Chanel lipsticks you can see the difference from a high street lipstick, and I don't mind paying the high price tag with a Chanel lipstick because so far I have not been let down by one.

Next up I have a MAC lipstick, it is the famous Ruby Woo.

I'm going to keep this one short because I'm sure every blogger and their dog has spoken about this lipstick.
It's a matt 'postbox' red shade.

Being MAC it is slightly more expensive at £15.50. The shade is something I go for if I wanted a classic red lip. Being a matt formula, I do find this lipstick quite drying, however it is very long-lasting.

From Calvin Klein, I have a lipstick in the shade Eros, which I bought from Fragrance Direct rather than straight from Calvin Klein, so I didn't pay much for it (I can't remember exactly how much). This lipstick is slightly more natural than the other two. I'd say the shade was a muted berry colour with a blue undertone, which I think is perfect if you want a more understated lip this time of year.

Another recent favourite of mine this the Soap and Glory Lipstick in the shade Pom Pom.
The shade is quite similar to the shade of the Calvin Klein lipstick, however, I'd say the Soap and Glory lipstick is slightly deeper and has more of a purple tint to it creating a slightly more statement lip for day to day wear.
This is my first Soap and Glory lipstick, and I am really impressed, I will definitely be trying out some more of their lipsticks.

To me, I find this lipstick feels much more expensive than it actually is. The packaging is nice, the lipstick is moisturising and fairly long-lasting, and it even has the Soap and Glory indent in the lipstick.  What I really like about this lipstick, is that although it is a matt shade, the formula is not too drying - unlike the MAC lipstick I spoke about earlier which you pay a lot more for.

Lastly is more most recent lipstick purchase.
It's the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in the shade 31.

I have been wearing this lipstick a lot since I bought it.  It is quite similar to the last two shades I spoke about (I'm really enjoying a muted berry lips at the moment!) but it has a slightly redder tone to it, creating a bolder casual lip. This the first of the Kate Moss lipsticks I have tried and really like it so far.

What has been your favourite lipstick recently?

    Love Chloe
