Shades of Nude...

Saturday, 6 August 2016

There are some days when you want to look polish and chic, whilst keeping it subtle.

I have a lip and nail combo which I have found perfect for achieving this look. Of course, I'm going for nudes, they're on trend and oh so easy to wear with anything and everything. Plus I think nude lips and nails they give a nice sophisticated finish to any look.

The lip and nail shades are both different shades of nude. I personly don't like it too matching so I think they work really well together.
The lighter of the pair is the shade Kissed from the Barry M Coconut Infused Nail Polish range. This is a really easy to wear nude. It's not too dark, not too light, not too brown toned and not too pink toned. It's a very middle of the road nude which I think suits my pale skin tone and makes my nails looking very healthy and polished (pun not intended). I also love the formula of these Barry M Coconut Infused Nail Polish. They're nice to apply, dry fairly quickly, they're pretty long lasting, and they're good for your nails. Plus they're also inexpensive. I'd definitely recommend giving this nail polish a go.

As for my current go to lip (Yes, I've actually taken a step back from MAC Whirl, I never thought I'd see the day) is created using the very talked about Kylie Lip Kits in the shade Candy K. This is a much darker shade of nude, which I think suits me more when it comes to lips. It's a brown toned nude with a slight pink hint to it and a matte finish. Of course, it was a pain in the ass to get hold of, and a bit bloody expensive once I'd paid for delivery and customs, but worth every penny. I like both the liquid lipstick and the liner, and I'm a lot happier with the shade than I'd expected.

I love wear of both these variations of nude, they've become my go-to! What are your go-to nude shades?

MAC Whirl Lipstick | Beauty Review

Friday, 15 July 2016
I'm about to make a pretty big statement...I have a new absolute favourite lipstick. It's pretty on-trend at the moment, so maybe this won't last forever, but for the last few months I have been unable to put it down, I've literally worn it most days. Considering I used to be pretty big into red lips, this is a big deal that I'm getting so much wear out of a nude.

The shade is MAC Whirl. I wrote about MAC Velvet Teddy (blogpost here) a while back, as it was the first nude I'd found which I really felt suited me. I'd say the shade Whirl is a very similar brown nude, however, it is a shade darker. It has a matte finish which looks amazing and makes it super long-lasting. I find I hardly need to reapply this lipstick, even when I don't use a liner (as shown in these pictures).

I find this the perfect shade to throw on which just automatically makes you look more put together. This 90s brown lip is really on-trend, and this is the perfect lipstick for that look. I think the shade suits my skin tone and it works with pretty much any makeup look and outfit, and I'll be honest, I feel pretty badass when I wear it. All you really need is lipstick.

If you're looking for a brown-toned nude lipstick I'd recommend giving Whirl a whirl (ha). I'm wearing this lip so much right now!

MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick | Beauty Review

Sunday, 19 July 2015

I am sure there won't be many of you reading this who haven't heard of the lipstick Velvet Teddy by MAC, it is, of course, the lipstick which Kylie Jenner is rumoured to wear to achieve her famous 'my lips but better look' which so many of us lust after. After all the hype, and trying the colour out several times, I decided it was the time I picked one up for myself.

I have found I have a love, hate relationship with nude lipsticks. I love them on other people, however, the majority of the time I hate how they look at me. I'm not really too sure why I just struggle to pull off a nude lip, I find they don't often suit my skin tone and quite often I feel they make me look unwell, not exactly a desirable look.
I don't often wear a nude lip when I do I feel more self-conscious as I'm used to a bright lip, so it's a shock switching to a nude, so maybe they don't look as bad on me as I think. Nonetheless, several times I have bought nude lipstick and gave them away because I have felt they don't suit me as soon as I have got them home. Why am I rambling on about my constant nude lip struggle? Because this one is a keeper. So many have said it's about finding the perfect nude shade for you. Velvet Teddy is mine.

It's quite a dark nude colour with a brown and peach tone to it and a matte finish. The shade is darker than the nudes I usually pick up which I think compliments my skin tone more, and also makes a statement of a subtle lip.

I find this lipstick is fairly long-lasting and not too drying considering it has a matt finish. If you're looking for a new nude lip, I definitely recommend trying this shade out!

A More Subtle Nail Colour | Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour Beauty

Wednesday, 9 July 2014
Sorry, it's another nail post! I've been painting my nails a lot recently, as you can tell, usually I go for quite a bright, obvious nail colour, but today I decided to try something different and go for a more subtle natural looking nail.

CHANEL LE VERNIS NAIL COLOUR (shade 543 Frission)

The Shade:

This nail polish is by Chanel, so being a high-end brand is slightly more pricey (£17.50/£18 depending on where you buy it), anyway, this is the LE VERNIS nail colour in the shade 543 Frission.
I'd describe the colour as a very pretty pale, natural pink/peach shade. The colours got very subtle glitters in it which sometimes catch the light and reflect different colour which I think looks amazing, although the nail colour is very natural subtle nail colour, when you see it up close you can see a very pretty glitter effect and it just gives the nails a nice healthy-looking finish and has a nice shine to it. Perfect for a simple everyday nail with any outfit.

The Formula:

As for the nail polish formula, I found this nail polish spread across the nails really nicely, I used serval coats as I wanted the colour to be fairly visible, however, if you're going for a more natural finish you could get away with just the one coat. The nail polish didn't take very long at all to dry, saving me from smudges (I'm awful when it comes to using my hands too soon after painting my nails and ruining my nails). Anyway if you wanted to splash out a little more on nail colour, I'd definitely recommend this nail polish, I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for some cheap dupes of this colour.
