I recently spent the day in London with my Mum. I wanted to go to poetry reading which was on Portobello Road, so Mum and I decided it was the perfect excuse to have a bit of a day trip and spend some time together.
Portobello Road and Poetry.
Rather than stray too far, we decide to explore Portobello Road.
We started with a coffee and cake from Artisan Bakery - I had a blueberry muffin, and I can safely say it was the nicest muffin I have ever eaten, and I'm not even big fan of blueberries.
It was nice to have a little wander along and appreciate the market and pastel colour houses. I was hoping for some better shops along there, but I had a great day, so I can't complain.
We stopped in The Duke of Wellington a little later for some food. I opted for an open goats cheese and pepper sandwich, which was delicious. To go with this a had a cup of tea because you can't go wrong with a cuppa!
In the evening we arrived at The Gin Distillery and had a drink. I then headed upstairs to the poetry night. Mum did come in with me, as poetry doesn't interest her. I felt a little nervous going in alone, but I love Charly Cox who was performing her poetry so I decided I wasn't going to let my anxiety stop me doing something which I want to do.
When I arrived, Charly knew I was going alone, and kindly found me some other lovely girls who also went alone, so we all sat together. I had a fab night. Charly's poetry reading was great. She explained why she has written the poem which she read which I found really interesting, and of course, she has a wonderful way with words. I felt very inspired!

Everyone was really welcoming and lovely, although I went alone I managed to get chatting to a few people. I was very happy to meet Estee Lalonde and Lily Pebbles after watching them for years. Of course, I loved meeting Charly, I think I am possibly her biggest internet stalker - but she is also so so lovely IRL, and she seemed pleased to meet me too which is always nice.
All-round I have a great day, I did vlog, so that will be up on my Youtube Chanel soon enough. It nice to explore London every now and then!

A few weeks ago I saw Liv Purvis post a tweet about The Bloggers Market, I thought "that looks cool, I'd love to go to that.. oh it's in London, such a shame it's not in Bristol"... and then I realised that I am more than capable of getting to and from London, and I have a Uni friend in London... Bristol is really not that far, so why would I not go? So I booked a Megabus (gotta save the pennies) there and a train back (thought I'd treat myself to a train on the way home, considering getting there came to a total of £8).
My friend Jess was able to come along too - it gave us the perfect excuse for a much-needed catch-up and also meant I didn't have to go alone. Win-win.
I had a great day. Sadly, that did result in not taking as many photos as I would have liked (who else forgets about their camera when they're having too much fun?). We looked around all of the cute clothes (I only ended up getting a jacket - Jess and Ellie were a bit luckier with the shopping than me), we ate sweets, and we did a bullet journaling workshop with Ohh Deer.
It was lovely to see how normal and lovely all of the big bloggers are. Zoe and Liv both complimented my T-Shirt (thank you ASOS) and I felt very cool. I also got a selfie with Liv... I, of course temporarily forgot how my phone works... because we all know my blog is pretty much a What Olivia Did fan account, and Liv had to remind me how to put it onto Selfie mode (I tried to press the timer...smooth).
The Girls (Liv, Zoe, Carrie, Lucy, Kristabel and Kim) all did such a wonderful job organising the day - there were so many amazing quality pieces there, they set up space to Instagram heaven and everyone was so friendly and happy to be there, and of course, I got to see my friend Jess (and meet Ellie) which was lovely. A fab day all round.

War Horse
If you read my blog regularly (are there any of you?!) you'll remember a few weeks back I spent the weekend in London (blogpost here) with my Mum and Auntie to see War Horse.
Unfortunately I only managed to get a few sneaky iphone photos as I wasn't too sure if I was allowed to be taking photographs so didn't want to whack out my DSLR, plus I also wanted to watch the show rather than see it purely through a camera lens - so apologies the photos with this blog post aren't the greatest and don't do the show much justice.
I went to see War Horse, completely blind as I have never watched the film or read the book so I didn't really know what to expect, although if I'm completely honest I'll say my expectations weren't that high. I assumed the story of War Horse was going to be very predictable, I mean the title War Horse pretty much gives it away right? What more could there be to it than a horse which goes to war?
Well I've got to say I was pretty wrong about that. There was more to the story than I expected. I was hooked on the story from start to finish. What impressed me most was how the story was told.
There weren't many props, at all (besides the horse of course... does that count as a prop or a costume?). The stage was close to empty. There wasn't all that much speaking, and a lot of the speaking wasn't in English.
As for the horse, it was not at all what I had expected - there were two horses used for the main horse - the young horse and the adult horse. Both of the horses looked like a simple skeleton of a horse, in which you could see the people controlling it, especially with the young horse where the people controlling it were stood besides the horse. At the beginning I thought 'well this is going to be distracting, I can see that it's not a horse', how wrong was I?! The movement of the horse were so realistic, it wasn't long at all until the people controlling the horse became invisible and I began to feel attached to the horse.

The only real means of telling the story was the acting, which is exactly what I loved about the show. You could see how talented the actor were, to tell the story so greatly that the audience felt an attachment to it's characters.
At the end of the show when the actors came to take a bow, you could see the emotions on actors faces, especially the gentleman who played the main character so well, he was in tears, which strangely was lovely to see as you could really see the importance of the show to the people involved.
I would strongly recommend going to see this if you have a chance. It was brilliant.

Last weekend I had a lovely weekend in London with my Mum and Auntie. We saw War Horse in the evening (spoiler: blogpost coming) and spent the day looking around Camden Market. From what little I have seen of London, Camden is one of my favourite places in the city. I love the busy atmosphere, and I think there is just so much to see, beauty can be found in each little corner. I'll definitely have to pop back when I have got a bit of spare money to do a spot of shopping.
During the day I snapped the odd few pictures, apologies - none of them are that great but I thought I's share them on here nonetheless.
