Eyeliner Obsession | Kiko Super Colour Eyeliner Review.

Monday, 15 October 2018

If you follow me on Instagram, you might know that I recently went through a blue eyeliner phase. The electric blue liner I'd had for months was no longer forgotten at the back of my makeup drawer, instead, I used it most days. I was so impressed with the formula, I found myself spending far more than I intended to in a Kiko Cosmetics store on their 'Super Colour eyeliner' in a fair few shades.

So, after using these for a few months, I can say the shade I first fell in love with, 107 Blue Majorelle is still my favourite, closely followed by the brown shade, 102 Bronze.

Here's the lowdown on the shades I picked up and my thoughts on them:

109 Pearly Purple Cranesbill

This purple shade has an iridescent glitter running through it, which gives it a pearly looking sparkle.

102 Bronze

This brown shade had a metallic bronze look to it. It contains some glitter but it's much finer and more subtle than the glitter in the shade 109.

108 Pearly Frivolous Pink

I was most excited to get my hands on this pink shade, however, ended up being disappointed with this colour. I find this shade takes a lot more building up than the others and without layering the colour pay off isn't as strong as I'd like. This shade had some so glitter running through it.

115 Midnight Blue

This deep navy shade is slightly 'flatter' than the rest which is what I like about it, there's not intense glitter running through and only a slight metallic edge to it, it's more subtle and understated.

101 Shimmering Gold ↑

I'm wearing this shade today, and I've got to say, it feels kind of 'christmasy'. Like the pink one, I find this shade required a bit more build up to get a strong colour pay off. There is plenty of gold glitter in this liner which I think gives it the Christmas feel. The name of this shade Shimmering Gold is completely on point.

107 Blue Majorelle →

This is the liner which led me to the others, my favourite. I'd describe this shade a bright, electric blue. There is no glitter in this one, and it's not really metallic, the colour is statement enough without it. You can see a picture of me wearing it here.

The Kiko Super Colour Eyeliner is the longest lasting eyeliner I have ever used. To test this out, I've worked in a nursery from 7.30am -5.30om and at the end of the day, my eyeliner was the only remaining makeup on my face, and it had hardly moved. I've also worn this eyeliner to work out and it's lasted. I've had a full night out, got home and drunkenly misbehaved by not taking off my make up, and in the morning although I felt hanging, my eyeliner looked fresh and fully intact.

However, the long-lasting formula does dry slightly 'crusty', it dries with a sort of hard texture to it, which doesn't always feel or look the nicest to wear, and makes the liner feel more low end, but at the £6.80 price point, it's to be expected at that finish isn't the most luxury.

I love the applicator. The wand is fine, pointed and fairly flexible towards the point, which for me takes the fear out of applying winged liner. The wands make it easy to get right, and the long lid, give some leeway with how you hold the liner when applying it.

I was a little disappointed with some of the shades, I expected a little more colour with some of the 'super colour' I found the shades of the gold, brown and pink to be a little flatter than I expected, I was hoping for something which popped a little more (as the blue does), but overall I have got use out of all the colours - more so than I have with some of my highend eyeliner.

Highliners.

Tuesday, 28 February 2017

Lately, I have been enjoying experiment with eyeliners, and the Marc Jacobs Highliners have really been floating my boat.

They're a gel formula so they just glide on, and they really late! I'm usually a liquid liner kind of girl - but these are so much easier to apply, if you want to wing it you can just drag the pen along slightly and smudge it out into the shape you want. It makes application easy, and give you the option to go for the neatly finished look, or a more smudged liner - personally recently I've been enjoying wearing my liner a little smudgy. I've also smudged these Highliners all across my eyelid for a full shadow look.

The Marc Jacobs Highliners give you a little time to smudge before they dry, and then once they set,  they last pretty much all day on me - which is amazing, considering how much my eyes water, and being the more tired girl ever does mean I'm prone to rubbing my eye and ending up with black eyes - yet these liners stay put nonetheless.

The colour range in this liner is great. I have three different colours. The shades Blacquer, Lollipop and Wavelength. All of which I have become obsessed with, of course the black ('blacquer') shade is essential because everyone loves black liner once in a while, my favourite to wear recently is the pink ('lollipop') shade, which just creates the most stunning pink look, and for when I'm not feeling quite so adventurous, I'm enjoying wearing the blue shade (wavelength), which I think look incredible against my brown eyes - it makes my dull eyes pop a little more.

These are £20 which I think is pretty good considering the high quality.

I'd recommend giving them a go!

Autumn Walks

Monday, 31 October 2016
If you follow me on Instagram (@chloehayfs), you'll know how much I love Autumn. Autumn is by far my favourite time of year, to the extent the excitement gives me butterflies in my stomach when I notice the first signs of leaves falling, and temperatures dropping. I love how colourful the world becomes, I love stepping on crisp autumn leaves, and feeling that crisp cold air against your face, I love the clothes, I love being cosy inside, and being chilly outside, I love wrapping up in jumpers and sitting by bonfires, and Halloween, and the oranges, and reds, and did I say I love autumn leaves?! As you can probably tell, everything about this time of year makes my heart happy - I just love everything about Autumn.

Lately, I've been enjoying appreciating Autumn and taking myself on some Autumn walks, along with my camera to get some snaps of how beautiful everything is this time of year.  So I thought I'd share my love for Autumn through the view of my camera...

You can probably tell I think Mother Nature is just a real babe this time of year by the excessive number of images (it took a lot of narrowing to get to this many!)

As I'm enjoying playing with my camera more than ever, one of my favourite things about Autumn this year is capturing the beauty of it through my camera lens, as you can probably tell!

What's your favourite thing about this time of year?

Made to Measure

Monday, 11 May 2015

While I was on holiday we went to a tailor and where I had this beautiful, colourful t-shirt made.
As I got it in India I went for a traditional Indian top design, which would usually be worn with trousers - however, I decided against getting the trouser to as I felt I wouldn't get the wear out of them.

I choose the fabric myself. Considering how many fabrics there were to choose from, it really didn't take me much time to decide on a fabric. I automatically felt drawn to this material because I love all of the vibrant colours.

Once I had chosen the style and fabric I wanted I was then measured, which only took a matter of minutes.  I was asked what length I wanted the hem and arms, so it was made completely to my measurements and chosen lengths.

My friend managed to snap a few shots of me being measured

Once I had my measurements taken, I then paid and left it to the tailors to go their stuff. They then delivered my top (along with everything else everyone from my tour group ordered) within in a couple of hours. All together I paid around £16 for this, which I think is incredible, considering in the UK you'd struggle to get a decide t-shirt for that price, let alone a made to measure piece in beautiful fabric.

As the top is such a statement piece I decided to keep the rest of the outfit simple by just wear black footless tights and black shorts (which are covered by the length of the top, but they are there promise) and some heel peep-toe shoe boots.

I am a little bit in love with this outfit, especially as I'm the only person with this top!
I'd love to hear what you think of it.
Love,
Chloe

My Top 5 Favourite Lipsticks | Beauty

Friday, 25 July 2014
Being a bit of a lipstick addict, I thought it was probably time I did a post on my favourite lipsticks. I choose all high-end lipsticks, as they just happened to be my favourites, I'm the first to admit I'm a bit of a lipstick snob. So, unfortunately, these all slightly more pricey.

Image of 5 lipsticks, including Chanel, Nars, Mac cosmetics and Estée Lauder

5 lipsticks in berrys, reds, pinks and nudes.

From left to right:

Chanel: Rouge Coco, shade 21 Rivoli (shade no longer available):

I know this is not really a summery shade, but it is one of my favourites so I still included it. Through autumn/winter I was constantly reaching for these lipsticks, and got a fair few compliments on the colour. This is the darkest shade of lipstick I own, but will definitely be investing in some more dark shades when Summer comes to an end. The formula is really creamy and moisturising. Also, I find this lipstick is pretty long-lasting.

Chanel: Rouge Allure, shade 104 Passion (£31):

This is my all-time favourite lipstick shade, I have worn this lipstick for years and definitely wear it more than any of the other colours. I know, once again it's not the most summery shade but I love a classic red lipstick look, and also love the formula of Chanel lipsticks (Well, I love Chanel beauty in general).

NARS: Heat Wave:

I've already done a blog post on this lipstick which you can find here so I won't say too much about this lipstick. It's obviously slightly cheaper than the Chanel lipstick and is a lovely bright orange/red colour, which is slightly more suitable for summer.

MAC Girl About Town (£17.50):

I've already done a blog post on this Mac Lipstick which you can find here. The prices of MAC lipstick have recently gone up from £15 to £15.50, not a huge difference but slightly more expensive, however, I still think they are a pretty good price compared to other high-end brands. I really love this shade, I've been wearing it a lot the past few weeks.

Estée Lauder: Signature, shade 09 Venetian Rose (discontinued, similar linked):

I've had this Estee Lauder lipstick a really long time, I think I originally borrowed it from my mum and never returned it (sorry mum!). I didn't use this lipstick much for ages as it's a nude shade, and as you might be able to tell I'm more of the bright lipstick girl, however recently I've been opting for this lipstick quite a lot. Every other nude lipstick I've tried on has made me look ill, not really a look I'm going for. This shade, however, has a nice peachy pink tone to it and adds a nice amount of natural colour to your lips. It's perfect for a very casual everyday lipstick, or when you want a more natural look, it's the best nude lipstick.

Sorry, my favourite lipsticks are not really in fitting with the current season, If anyone has any recommendations of some more summery coloured lipstick, let me know, I think I could some shade more fitting with this hot weather to add to my favourites.

What are your favourite lipsticks? xxx
