Today, I thought it would be nice to share a makeup look I've been enjoying recently, as it's been a while since I've posted beauty, and I've definitely been enjoying my reflection in the mirror when I've to finish carefully smearing it across my face.

This is a pretty classic look with an orange-red lip and winged liner. It is also very simple and doesn't use too many products.

Tanya Bakes: Cookies...

I am really not the baker, I've never really been into baking, yet out of curiosity and through a lot of mouthwatering Instagrams, I found myself picking up a copy of Tanya Bakes. As I not really into baking I decided to make something easy the first time I used this book. I went for the milk and white chocolate cookies because you can't fuck up cookies all that much can you?

Firstly I halved the ingredients - it says it makes 10 cookies, but when I'm just baking for fun, I don't really need to make 10 cookies. However I did still, however, end up with 9 fairly sizable cookies, I guess the recipe is to make really giant cookies!

I loved using the book because the instructions were so clear and simple. I think sometimes when book instructs you, not matter whether it's a cookbook or a life advice manual things can be over complicated and it all becomes drawn out and confusing. I mean, if I need to crack an egg into the mixture, just say "crack an egg into the mixture" not "select one sizable free range egg, take that to your ingredients which had previously all been mixed together, if you tap the egg on the side of the bowl you can then break the egg, pull the shell away and place into the bin or set aside, now you are ready to combine your egg with your ingredients"... You get the picture, right? I may be exaggerating there, but I do find this type of thing is common in books. This book, however, is definitely more to the point than I'd expect which makes it much more simple, for me, the none baker, who is baking to follow.

It didn't take all that long to create the cookie dough, more than anything chopping the chocolate was the most time consuming - but overall I found the process to be quite therapeutic - unlike previous stressful baking experiences I've had - my clumsy and all round sloppy lack of accuracy doesn't go down well in the baking world, I try, but I have a careless personality when it comes to these things.

I found separating the dough into balls a little more frustrating because I felt as though I need a bigger baking tray, I ended up using two which was just a little inconvenient as the ones on the top cooked faster (plus, more washing up.. which is really not the fun part). I also found as my cookie spread out the slightly went into each other (Tanya does warn about this in her book, and well it's obvious) I pretty much knew this was going happen but my baking trays we're a tad too small to allow loads of room. It wasn't a huge issue it was only slightly, and they were easy enough to separate from each other once they'd cooled.

I also kept mine in the oven a little longer than the book suggested - although it says they will still be doughy and set as the cool, I just felt they needed that extra few minutes.

And once they cooled, I enjoyed a cookie and some milk - yum!

The cookie we're pretty delicious, as cookies go, and the book made me realise I can actually enjoy baking when it's made easy.

Tanya Bakes is filled with such lovely pictures, it's made me want to become one of those people who love baking... you never know, maybe one day! I did find it to be the perfect Sunday activity, and a great excuse to give myself a good sugar rush through the week by snacking

I always think you know when you've picked a good shade for your nails, when after painting them, you can't stop looking at them. When I realised my nails kept catching my eye because of my love for the colour, I decided it was probably also worth writing a blog post about. The nail polish in question? It's the Tanya Burr Cosmetic Nail Paint in the shade Fairy Godmother. The shade is a stunning icy blue, grey colour. It's got some purple tones to it, and isn't that far off being white either, the colour is unlike any other nail polishes I own.

I also love the formula and the price of the Tanya Burr nail polishes - they apply evenly, you get a decent amount of wear out of them before the chipping starts, and they are pretty inexpensive, at just £4.99 you can't really go wrong!

I seriously love this shade, I can see myself wearing this a lot more as winter comes around, I think it's the perfect way to add a smudge of colour to a monochrome outfit.

Recently I haven't quite been feeling myself, I am not going to go into much detail. Let's just say I have been feeling a little more sensitive than usual, after having a day feeling as though I was going to burst into tears every five minutes despite for no particular reason I decided I was in need of a little treat and pamper.

Completely ignoring my spending ban, I headed to The Mall as soon as I finished work.

As I am supposed to be saving money and my bank account isn't looking too healthy as it is, I wanted to treat myself, without it hurting my bank account too much.

I decided to have a look around for something some bits to go towards having a much needed pamper evening.

After looking around the shops for a while I settle on buying myself two little bits, first off in Lush I got myself an Amandopondo bubble bar slice in Lush, and then I picked up Ridding Hood Nail Paint by Tanya Burr from Superdrug.

I have had my eye on the Tanya Burr Nail Polish, since purchasing the Picnic in the Park Lipgloss and being super impressed (blog post here).

Recently I've been dying to see what the nail polishes Tanya Burr had to offer.

Being a big fan of Tanya Burr, I have been admiring her nails as I've been watching her fashion week vlogs, - which happened to be the Ridding Hood Shade from her range.

With autumn/winter approaching I felt this shade would be perfect as the leaves begin to fall.

When browsing the Tanya Burr Nail Polishes I noticed they were also reduced from £5.99 to £3.99, so how could I can no!

Painting my nails is definitely a key part of a pamper evening.

Another key part of a pamper evening is, of course, a relaxing bath, so I headed to lush to see what I could pick up for my bath.

After smelling what felt like everything they sold in lush I settled with the Amandopondo bubble bar slice - something I have not tried before.

I really love the scent of this, I would describe this as a floral scent with a citrus kick. I'm super excited to have a bath with this one. As it's a bubble bar I can get more than one use out of it, which is always good!

I can't wait to have a little pamper evening tonight, with a nice relaxing bath, and a fresh coat of nail polish, I'm sure I'll feel like a new person!

I know this lipgloss got a mention in my August favourites, but I love it so much I felt there is so much more I can say about this lipgloss that I decided to dedicate an entire post to it.

I mentioned in my August favourites that I am more of a lipstick girl rather than a lip gloss girl, however, to buy this lipgloss on a whim because I had heard so much good stuff about it and I love Tanya Burr, as it only cost £6.99 I felt it was affordable enough to try out, and if I decided it didn't like it wouldn't too much of a loss.

However, I think this has converted me! I can't stop wearing this lipgloss.

The main reason I do not really wear lipgloss is that I feel lipgloss can be too sticky and I find it really frustrating when you're wearing lipgloss and your hair constantly sticks to it (I'm not the only person this happens to am I?), however, I haven't found this to be too much of an issue with this lipgloss, the formula isn't overly sticky or glossy... sometimes lipgloss can look too glossy so that rather than making your lips seem more attractive, it can appear as though you have slobber around your lips, not the look you were necessarily going for I hope to think.

I really love this colour of this lipgloss, it's just a very pretty pink, it's not too over the top, and I find it is a colour which really enhances my natural lip. The wand of this lipgloss is not what I expected, it's much softer and easily glides across your lips making application easy.

Also what I think really sold me on this lipgloss is the delicious smell. It has a very sweet, strawberry-like scent to it which I love, I find myself repeatedly wanting to apply the lipgloss because of the lovely smell.

I can not wait to try out some more of the Tanya Burr Lipglosses. I am very surprised to find myself constantly reaching for this lip gloss over my usual MAC or Chanel lipstick.

I would definitely recommend trying this out, I'm so impressed and think this product is such good value for money!

So here are some bit and bobs I found myself really appreciating throughout August.

My Radley Umbrella

My Radley Umbrella (similar linked) has been a lifesaver this month. Those of you who live in England will know the weather has been switching from being super sunny to tipping with rain. An umbrella is definitely more essential as winter approaches.

When I travel to work I get the bus, to get to the bus stop it is a 20-minute walk, and when I get off the bus it's another 20-minute walk, so without this umbrella, I would have ended up going into work dripping wet which does not give the best impression.

My (now) ex-boyfriends mum bought me this umbrella for Christmas last year. I really love the design, it has a red handle and red detailing, the umbrella is clear when you open it out with some cute very British looking picture on. It's a big umbrella, so I don't have to worry about it blowing inside out in the wind, and the clear design means I can bring it as far over my face I want without it affecting my vision. I just love it. I think it looks nice, does what it needs to and will last. Definitely an investment umbrella.

I've had a look on the Radley website and they have stopped selling this one, but you can find similar umbrellas here. Obviously having had this as a gift I'm not too sure how much it cost, but I'm guessing it was between £20-£30 judging by the price of the others, which I think is pretty good value considering how much use I've got out of the umbrella recently.

Simple Facial Toner

I've been trying to make more effort to look after my skin recently. I've been using the Simple Toner as part of my everyday skin routine, and I've got to say it's just so refreshing on my skin and makes me feel more awake, and it's super cheap at just £3.29 for a big bottle in Boots, you can find that here.

I definitely recommend trying that out as it's so cheap so you've not got much to lose if you do not like it and when I use this face toner, my skin feels amazing.

Zoeva Bamboo Brush Set (similar linked)

I'm not going to talk about these too much as I had already written a blog post on these which you can find here. To put it simply, this is the best makeup brush set. They are all really soft, there's a good range in the set so it is a good starter set if you are new to make up brushes and good value for money. Love them!

Soap & Glory Kickass Concealer

I'm really enjoying using this concealer, once again I have already done a blog post on this which you can find here, so I am not going to say much more about that.

Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner

I have also already blogged about this in the same post whereas the Kickass Concealer, but this eyeliner is so easy to use I have to give it a mention.

Tanya Burr Picnic in the Park Lipgloss

I have not worn lipgloss for years, but as I heard a lot of good things about this one I thought I'd give it a go, and to my surprise I really like it. I'm not really used to the sticky feeling lipglosses give your lips, however, I didn't find this one too sticky. Also, it's not over glossy, I find some people wearing lipgloss can look as though they have dibbled all over their lips, which is not a look I want to go for.
I really love the natural pink colour of this, it's perfect for work or when I feel lipstick is just a bit too much. Also, it was only £6.99 which I think is such a good value. You can read my full review of this lipgloss here.
I've found this to be the best lipgloss I've used, I'm looking forward to trying out some of the other shades. (Sadly this product has now been discontinued)

Rimmel Moisture Renew Invisible Lipliner

Until recently I never really wore lipliner although the major of the time I wore lipstick which would smudge and would not last, however, because I had so many different shades of lipstick it just seemed far too expensive to get a lipliner in each shade too - so this is just what I needed. I can wear it with any shade of lipstick and it helps to keep it in place. The only thing that bothers me is it is harder to apply because it's invisible - however it does keep my lipstick in place.

Knitting

During August I have been spending a lot of my spare time knitting.
I feel as though I've picked it up and now I've got the hang of it, it is so relaxing and such a nice way to pass time. I'm going to knit a case for my iPod soon, and am really looking forward to being able to knit lots of bits and bobs.
