With Christmas coming up, I wanted to do a few more post reviewing products which I think would make great gifts, from beauty to books and everything in between. These will all be things I own and have used and enjoyed myself so the series will create a 'sort of' detailed gift guides for the 20 something female.
First up we have the Kevyn Aucoin Prismagic Highlighting Trio. I got this for my birthday and was chuffed for it. It makes a great gift as it's luxury and a little unusual. It's not necessarily something you'd buy for yourself with the £36 price tag for three shades but if you really want to treat someone I think this highlighting trio is pretty special.
At first glance, the shade all look a sort of off-white colour with some glitter running through, however, once you apply them to the skin, the different colours show through, and, they all have an iridescent, glitter finish, which is just stunning.
The three shades are:
Aura: a beautiful lavender-blue shade
Illusion: a sparkling peach shade
Enchanted: a green with a golden edge to it
I'll admit the blue and green shades are both a little out there for highlighters, despite however beautiful a glowy they are, I'm not particularly drawn to brushing these along my cheekbones, however, they make for stunning eyeshadows.
The formula is ever so slightly crumbly, however, with how I use the shades it doesn't seem too much of an issue. They still blend well and look gorgeous on the skin. Once applied on a brush, it is difficult to see how much product you've got on there, so it takes a little guesswork, but as shades apply quite subtly, only really standing out when you hit the light, too much product doesn't seem an issue. The shadows are buildable, so there is always the option of adding more.
The colours are both subtle and stand out at the same time. They apply quite finely, adding a hint of colour and a stunning glittery glow to the skin, but despite the vibrant shades, they are not too over-powering, they are simply a little more interesting than your average pink/gold-toned highlighter.
The packaging is beautiful and luxurious. There is a little swatch of each colour next to the shades to give some idea of what they look like on the skin and there is also a mirror inside the compact. It's small enough to slip into a handbag although the gold reflective outside is just beginning for fingerprints, it looks beautiful and classy nonetheless.

The Jaclyn Hill Palette - First Impression and Swatches.
I was lucky enough to get onto Beauty Bay and get my hands on a Jaclyn Hill Morphe palette before they sold out. The process was surprisingly easy and you can't imagine my excitement when it arrived at my door the next morning (I didn't even pay for next day delivery, great job Beauty Bay!)
On the first impression - I am not in love with the packaging, the silver and white looks pretty sleek when it arrived, however, with a bit of use I'm sure it will be looking rather grubby. The cardboard makes it feels cheap and is difficult to clean - however it cost £37 and there are 36 shades, so I think I could forgive that, as it's pretty great value for money. Also, I feel they missed a mirror opportunity in the lid. I do like that inside the palette has a message from Jaclyn which says "this palette is dedicated to all my loving subscribers" it's a nice reminder of who Jaclyn Hill is, and reflects her gratitude - but it didn't necessarily have to be written on in the inside of the lid - a mirror would have been handier. Also from watching Jaclyn videos, I know the shades have names, but I cannot see them written on the packaging at all, again it's not essential, but would be nice (and would come in handy writing this post!) - apparently other palettes came with a shade name insert, mine didn't. The palette is however very slim and light which although it's large makes it pretty easy to travel with.
Now onto the eyeshadows. It consists of a whopping 36 shades, 17 of which are completely matte, 19 are shimmer, 2 of the 19 have slightly more subtle shimmer, the other 17 are pretty full-on glitzy.
The palette mainly consists of warm-toned shades. There are a lot of the essential warm neutrals are there, plus some pinks, blues, purples and greens, if you fancy being more adventurous with colour. Personally, I don't think there is a shade in this palette I won't get my use out of, however, I love experimenting with colourful eye make up, and also can appreciate a brown eyeshadow.
There are so many colour choices in the palette, I'm considering have a palette clear out, as this got pretty much every colour I need in it (besides a bright pink of course). The colour range means you can create a look for any occasion - whether it's a night out, a casual day look, or even a terrifying Halloween make up.
On swatching a did feel some of the shades were quite similar but then can you ever really have too many neutral eyeshadows? (I think not)
I'm sure you can tell by my swatches - all of the shadows are pretty damn pigmented and have a great colour pay off. I'm yet to try out any looks with the palette yet (but I will be filming a video for Sunday of it in use, subscribe to my Youtube Channel here so you don't miss it.) however, from swatching I can tell the eyeshadows have a buttery blendable consistency to them.

Urban Decay: Full Spectrum Palette.
I'm going to make a bit of a bold statement here, but... I think I'm done with neutral eye makeup.
I know it's a big statement to make - but I've been feeling a little braver and more experimental with my makeup, I have actually been enjoying delving into the world of colourful eye looks.
I work a few makeup counters away from Urban Decay, so naturally, I often find myself admiring their products. One day the Full Spectrum palette caught my eye (I mean, how could it not) - and I found myself lusting after it, despite it being worlds away from my standard gold eyeshadow.
When I saw they had one of their Full Spectrum palettes reduced due to the small chip in one of the shadows, I knew I had to have it. I was dying to play around which the colours - even if I'm meant doing the wackiest makeup, to wear around the house.
So, the palette consists of 21 colours, with glitters, shimmers, mattes and all of the in-between - there is a real range of levels of sparkle in the palette - and the majority of the colours are quite, well, colourful... besides the white.
Here are some swatches of all of the colours so you can get more of a feel for them...
From left to right the shades above are: Alchemy, Gossip, Paranoia, Warning, Seize, and Jones
From left to right the shades above are as follows: Midnight Blaze, Calavera, Goldmine, Hundred, Hatter, and Mean
From left to right above we have the shades: Minx, Blindsided, Metamorphosis, Delirious, Sketch and Faded
These last three shades from left to right are: Platonic, Iced and Bump.
I've already used the shades gossip and warning, which created a looked that I loved, plan on recreating and I also received a couple of compliments on my eye makeup that day! Alongside these, on first impressions, my favourite shades are Alchemy, Minx (although I'm not sure my swatch does it much justice), Jones, Seize, and Blind Sided!
There are mainly three different shades of each colour, so this palette makes it very easy if you decide to, for example, create a 'blue' eye look, and there are three shade of blue which all work very nicely together.
The shadows are very pigmented and have a good amount of colour payoff. I've only used the palette once so far but found the colours to all my very blendable - something which is definitely a requirement which such strong colours.
I'm also pretty happy with the packaging. The palette is a black plastic square with a colourful Urban Decay logo, there is a large mirror inside - always handy, and a double-ended mini brush, which is actually pretty decent too - one end is nice and fluffy for blending, and the other end is slightly smaller and flatter which allows you to be more precise.
Overall on first impressions, I'm really happy with this palette - I think the colour range is beautiful - and will be perfect for the days I feel like making a statement. However, this palette is definitely something you either love or hate - I've had a few people tell me the colours are disgusting, but personally I'm excited to use them - I'll share some looks I create with this palette over the next few weeks!

Too Faced Chocolate Palette | Review.
If you watch my Youtube channel, you may have seen my recent make up palette collection video, and I'm sure you may have noticed I have more than enough make up palettes, however that didn't stop me buying another one (after all, money is for spending, right?). I picked up the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette, and despite my recent realisation that I have far too many eyeshadow palettes, I do not regret a single thing.
I didn't go out intending to buy this palette, it was a completely spontaneous buy, without doing any research, so I didn't have high expectations.
I popped to the Too Faced Counter to get their Hangover Primer, when the lovely lady informed me that if I bought another Too Faced product I would receive a free mini mascara and lip product. Of course, I am a sales persons dream, that was all I needed to hear to add the Chocolate Bar palette to my shopping, and I'm so glad I did.
The palette comes with 16 shades. 5 of these shades are matte, and the rest offer different levels of shimmer. Some contain chunky glitter, and others have a more subtle shimmer running through. The palette is full of neutral shades with a few dramatic purple toned shades thrown into the mix, which enables you to create varying looks. I've been using this palette constantly to create both casual daytime and smoky evening eye make up looks.
As for the formulas, I think this may be some of the best eyeshadow formulas I've used - I know, bold statement there! These eyeshadows blend like a dream, they're creamy to apply, and for once I've actually found them to be long lasting, something I struggle to find in an eye shadow, and if that doesn't have you sold, it smells like chocolate!
My favourite shades include Marzipan, Salted Caramel, Amaretto, and Creme Brûlée. That being said I have have however got some use of all of the shades (I know, an eyeshadow palette where I actually like all of the shades, it's usually unheard of).
If you haven't guessed yet, I'm obsessed with the eyeshadow palette, definitely well worth the £36 price tag.
